Fine. You gotto raise your eyebrow.Its me ,who has started with movies!! Must tell you,I like a few movies and recently Bharat Bhawan ,in my city has fascinated me a lot [will write abt it later].
One thing,that makes me do some effort is to make Sunday ,a fantabulous day and enjoy hell out of it! Last two sundays,have been pathetic,seriously.I was very upset.So, this time I decided to make it a happy day myself. Woke up,late. Say 10:00 Am. Called a few friends ,if they are free to accompany me for a movie.Most of my friends ,can't tolerate Bharat Bhawan movies.And, my sis who is my regular pillion refuse straightly! Give her bribes ,chocolates watever she just dosen;t get ready to come.Annoying.The movies usually showcase humanity and direction of some veteran directors which is quiet different from commercial cinema.The place is not less than a temple for art lovers.
The movie had to start at 12 noon.I did not knew the flick,but as I said I wanted to enjoy myself.I took a risk and went alone. Reached before.Audience was very less but very classy.[Nah..no E.Ts ] Movie name was Rashomon (1950), a Japanese crime drama, is produced with both philosophical and psychological overtones .Its an academy winner ,directed by Akiro Kursuwo's .Stands as one of the revered filmmaker's indisputably brilliant motion pictures .
All the characters in the movie have done justice to their roles. The most I admired are ,the Woodcutter(Takashi Shimura) .I was impressed with his stupendous facial expressions.Tajomoro,the bandit( he's one real irritating person) quiet a challenging role he played. And, the only lady in the movie is ,Masako ,Takehiro's beautiful wife who gets raped by Tajomoro.
The movies takes back to ancient Japan ,a woman is raped and her husband killed. The film gives four viewpoints of the incident - one for each defendant - each revealing a little more detail. Tajomaru is captured shortly afterward and is put on trial, but his story and the wife's (Masako) are so completely different that a psychic is brought in to allow the murdered man to give his own testimony .And, he does this by calling ghostly spirit of the husband. Finally, a woodcutter who found the body (in actual) reveals that he saw the whole thing, and his version is again completely different from the others.Which version, if any, is the real truth about what happened ? Yeah..quiet a fix there.
The most entertaining part to you would be Masako's viel and eyebrow' ,and Tajomoro's laughing mockery ( a louder version of haha) Wicked!
Additionally, some of the dialouges in the movie are worth.Here are a few of my fav.
"Commoner : No one tells a lie after he's said he's going to
tell one.
Commoner : But is there anyone who's really
good? Maybe goodness is just make believe.
Priest : What a
frightening...
Commoner : Man just wants
to forget the bad stuff, and believe in the made-up good stuff. It's easier that
way.Priest: If men don't trust each other, this
earth might as well be hell.
Commoner: Right. The
world's a kind of hell. "
" Woodcutter: I'm the one who should be ashamed. I don't understand my own soul.
Priest: A man's been murdered.
Commoner: So
what? Only one? Why, up on top of this gate, there's always five or six bodies.
No one worries about them.Priest: I, for one, have seen hundreds of men dying like
animals, but even I've never before heard anything as terrible as this.
Horrible, it's horrible! There's never been anything, anything as terrible as
this, never! It's worse than fires, wars, epidemics, or bandits!Commoner: Well, men are only men. That's why they lie. They can't tell the
truth, even to themselves.
Priest: That may be true. Because men are weak, they lie to deceive
themselves.
Commoner: Not
another sermon! I don't mind a lie if it's interesting.
Priest: Dead men tell no lies. "

Commoner: We all want to forget
something, so we tell stories. It's easier that way. "
" Masako: A man has to make a woman his by his sword. "
I liked almost ,all the dialoge but this last dialouge by Masako,the one who gets raped,in front of her husband.Said, something very deep..and true. Later she says, a woman loves a man passionatly only when he wins her heart and give love,respect.A sword ,to a samurai means everything.Just think over...
